Friends and family don’t support your business??
Isn’t it funny that when you are progressing or starting a business, people will start to throw shade at your success? Do you find that you get more support from strangers than your love ones?
Well you are not alone. I encountered the same issue sometime back. Although I was hurt by the lack of support I received, I was not at all surprised by it. You see, once I understood that their behavior was more a reflection of them, I was able to accept the situation and move forward. I have come up with a little guidance to help you get through this experience.
Be Prepared
Your family and friends may think that your dream is too big or that you are in over your head. Don’t worry about it and block out the naysayers. The vision is not meant for them to see. It is meant for you!
Share your journey
Be clear about your journey. Never live your life with regret. Take the time to explain your reasons for pursuing this venture, your friends and family will come around at their own time.
Take a Break
Breathe! Take things one day at a time. Rome was not built over night. Give them time to process it all after you have shared your ideas with them.
Move On
You should move on if, after explaining your reasons, showing a passion for your vision, and then give it time to sink in. If they still didn’t come around, keep it moving.
Answer Questions
Keep your door open once you have got a clear idea of who is going to support you and who is not. Answer questions as they come and get them engaged. It is always helpful when others are able to see things for themselves.
